The Drop, August 2026: Instagram renames its AI creator label
What changed: on 31 August 2026, Instagram renamed its “AI creator” label to “AI-generated profile” and started limiting accounts that feature an AI-generated person without it (Instagram’s announcement).
Why it matters for your character: an unlabelled AI persona can be made non-recommendable, so it stops showing in Reels and Explore to people who don’t follow it yet. That’s where a new account’s growth comes from.
What to do: turn the label on in Edit profile today. If your account was already limited, check Account Status in the app.
The full walkthrough, who needs the label and what it does to reach, is in our guide to Instagram’s AI-generated profile label.
